Frequently Asked Questions

Oncology Voice Network

OVN connects the people, organizations, and perspectives shaping the future of oncology — from patients and caregivers to clinicians, researchers, advocates, and the pharma and biotech teams developing tomorrow's therapies. Below are the questions we hear most. If yours isn't here, we'd love to hear it.

OVN — the Oncology Voice Network — is a globally connected oncology platform built to bring people, organizations, and expertise into closer connection across the field. Wherever you sit in oncology, OVN is a place to learn, share, build relationships, and be part of a more connected future for cancer care.

Everyone shaping oncology — across patient communities, clinical care, research, advocacy, professional societies, and industry. Whether you treat patients, study the science, advocate for those affected, or develop new therapies, there's a place for you here. Every one of these voices makes the field richer.

No. Pharma and biotech are an important part of oncology — but only one part of a much larger community. OVN was built for the whole field, and patients, caregivers, advocacy organizations, clinicians, researchers, and professional societies all have a place here.

Most oncology communities focus on a single discipline, organization type, or region. OVN was built to do the opposite — to connect across those lines. It doesn't sit above the field; it exists to help connect it, bringing together perspectives that too often stay apart.

Because oncology moves forward faster when people, perspectives, and expertise are openly connected. Extraordinary insight exists everywhere in oncology, yet it's too often separated by silos, disciplines, and borders. OVN exists to close those gaps — through conversation, shared content, and real relationships that bring the field's many voices together. A more connected oncology is a stronger one for everyone.

OVN grew out of Voices of Oncology, the Forbes-published book by co-founders Dr. Ramin Farhood and Dr. Kirk Shepard that brought together 33 of the world's leading oncology voices around a single idea: progress depends on collaboration across boundaries. The conversations and relationships behind the book made the case for lasting connection — and OVN was created to carry it forward.

Yes. OVN is designed as a globally connected platform, supporting shared learning and collaboration across regions and borders — because cancer, and the work to overcome it, knows no boundaries.

Quite a lot. Listen to podcasts and read articles and interviews with oncology leaders, join webinars and conversations, explore directories of advocacy organizations and professional societies worldwide, discover the Voices of Oncology book, and connect with others working in oncology. However you want to take part — listening, learning, or contributing — there's a way in.

Yes. Membership is free. Creating an account gives you access to OVN's content, conversations, and directories, and lets you take part in the community.

We take your privacy seriously. OVN uses your information to support your experience and participation on the platform, and you can review exactly how it's collected and used anytime in our Privacy Policy.

OVN welcomes voices from across oncology. Whether you'd like to join a podcast, write an article, share an interview, or take part in a conversation, you can start through the Become a Contributor page, and we'll help you find the right way to share your perspective.

Absolutely. Patients, caregivers, and advocacy organizations are essential to oncology, and their perspectives shape the future of cancer care as much as any other. They aren't simply welcome at OVN — they're central to it.

Innovation Partners are organizations — not individual members — that bring expertise, technology, communications, analytics, operations, and specialized capabilities to oncology, including CROs, technology and data companies, medical communications teams, and consultancies. OVN treats them as contributors and collaborators in the field, not as advertisers — a distinct way for companies to take part in and support the network.

We'd love to talk. Innovation Partners gain visibility across the OVN platform, the opportunity to share thought leadership through podcasts, articles, and webinars, the chance to build relationships across oncology, and insight into how their presence is engaging the community. To explore a partnership, reach out and we'll set up a 30-minute introduction to walk through the options together.
